Poverty & Homelessness

Our Poverty & Homelessness projects are focused on issues ranging from food to home insecurities. Each project overall aims to help those living under such conditions and further advocate for their support through community and governmental aid.


Hunger Project

The Hunger Project provides resources for the homeless or disadvantaged communities in LA through a variety of programs. 

  • Shower of Hope: a free mobile shower clinic for the homeless
  • PATH Cooks: cooking+serving meals for residents living at a transitional housing facility
  • Safe Place for Youth: a safe facility in Venice open to all homeless youth aged 12-26 years old.
  • Advocacy: Research on legislative issues and attend city council meetings to make long-lasting change.

Habitat for Humanity

Our mission is to build, educate, advocate, and fundraise within the UCLA community and beyond in order to eliminate substandard housing.

-UCLA Chapter Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is an international, non-governmental, non-profit organization devoted to building simple, decent, affordable housing. Homes are built with volunteer labor and are sold at no profit.

Swipe Out Hunger

Founded by a group of friends at UCLA in 2010, Swipe Out Hunger has become a leading nonprofit addressing hunger among college students. We provide both commonsense and innovative solutions to campus hunger including our flagship program, “The Swipes Drive,” where students with extra dining hall meal swipes can donate them to their peers.
