Community Service Transportation (CS Transpo) Fund

A supplemental source of funding for transportation related costs.

The Community Service Transportation Fund (CS Transpo Fund) aids programs that assist underserved populations for a range of concerns, such as education, poverty, food scarcity, health, education, and beyond. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Process

Applying to CS Transpo

If my event is in Week 1 or Week 2 of Spring Quarter, can I apply to CS Transpo in Winter Quarter?

No. CS Transpo funding is quarter-specific and can only be used for events that occur within the same quarter the application is submitted, during the eligible funding period (Weeks 3–10 of that quarter).

Events that take place in Week 1 or Week 2 of a quarter are not eligible for CS Transpo funding, regardless of when the application is submitted. Per UC Policy, CS Transpo does not allow retroactive funding.

If your event occurs in Week 1 or Week 2, we strongly encourage you to explore alternative funding sources, such as SFS, CS Mini or CAC Mini.

If my event is Week 3 and I need funding as soon as possible, can my application to CS Transpo be graded early and have an allocation amount earlier than other organizations?

No. To ensure fairness and equity across all service organizations, the CS Transpo Committee does not review or allocate funding on a rolling or early basis, unless otherwise stated. All applications are reviewed only after the submission deadline, and allocation decisions are made collectively.

If your event is in Week 3, we recommend planning for the possibility of:

  • Exploring alternative transportation options.
  • Changing your event date to Week 4, or a later date to ensure you have all the funding information before spending.

How are the CS Transpo Applications Graded and Allocations decided?

Within the CS Transpo Application Examples spreadsheet, you can scroll to the bottom of each example to view:

  • CS Transpo grading criteria
  • What the Committee looks for in strong applications
  • Committee feedback and notes

We strongly encourage reviewing both examples to better understand how applications are evaluated.

Can CS Transpo fund transportation for service recipients (not UCLA students)?

Yes, as long as it is clearly justified. Applications must explain:

  • Who the service recipients are
  • Why transportation is necessary
  • How this directly supports the service being provided by the organization
  • Include full cost documentation or estimations from the vendor or rideshare apps

After Applying

I just submitted the CS Transpo Application for the Quarter. When can I expect to hear back?

The earliest you can hear back from CS Transpo is Week 3 Friday.

The CS Transpo Application is due each quarter at the end of Week 2. The CS Transpo Committee meets over the Week 2 weekend and early Week 3 to grade each application and decide the allocated amounts for each organization. These allocated amounts must be approved by USAC, and each 21-digit account line number must be created by SGA. These processes often take a few days, so the earliest you could hear back would be Week 3 Friday. Please be patient, as over 80+ organizations apply to CS Transpo each quarter, and it takes a bit of time to get through all the applications.

After Allocations

How do I access my funds?

To use your allocated funds, you’ll need to submit a Requisition (REQ) form through the SGA website

Can I change the date of my event after receiving funding?

Yes, as long as:

  • The new date remains within Weeks 3–10 of the same quarter, and
  • The funding amount and service purpose remain the same

Any changes should be communicated to the CS Transpo Chair as soon as possible at finance@uclacsc.org or cstranspofund@usac.ucla.edu
