Alternative Breaks at UCLA is a program within the Community Service Commission (CSC) which sends small groups of UCLA undergraduate students to communities within the United States to engage in meaningful service during their academic year breaks. Our goal is to create globally conscious active citizens through immersive student experiences that promote the values of service and community.
We offer winter and spring break trips. Students perform short term projects for community agencies and learn about issues facing those communities. Alternative Breaks provides a safe space for you to share your thoughts, participate in dialogue, experience new food and attractions, share stories, make friends, serve the community, reflect, and take action. As a result, individuals grow as leaders while learning about social justice issues during their immersive service experience. Alternative Breaks is great for students who are passionate about social justice looking to spend their break on a productive and interactive service-learning experience.
Immerse yourself with fellow passionate and dedicated Bruins for a week that defies the stereotypical break.
