Internship Program
The Community Service Commission is excited to continue its Internship Program for the 2024 – 2025 school year! The CSC Internship will serve as a starting point for those who are looking to get involved with service and student government at UCLA. CSC is a part of the Undergraduate Student Association Council (USAC). USAC is the official voice of UCLA’s undergraduate students to the campus administration, faculty, and outside community. Elected by the undergraduate student body, the officers and commissioners of USAC work to enrich the undergraduate experience by presenting relevant issues and programs to the student body.
CSC is a student-run community service organization with 32 service projects and a volunteer network of over 2,000 students. This makes CSC the largest student-run, student-initiated community service organization in the nation! The commission aims to centralize the service efforts of the UCLA campus community through large-scale service programming, Alternative Breaks, collaborations, and advocacy.
As members of CSC, interns will obtain direct experience in raising awareness on a variety of social issues, facilitating campus-wide and community-based programming, and learning how to logistically manage different types of student-led community service organizations. The Internship Program, primarily geared toward new students at UCLA (both first-years and transfers), will take place in 3 stages (one for each quarter): Orientation, Immersion, and Impact.
1
ORIENTATION
Fall Quarter will be dedicated to orientation, training, intern/staff bonding, and education around ethical service and CSC projects/programs. Interns will also have the opportunity to learn more about social justice issues through self-directed research projects and field trips.
2
IMPACT
Spring Quarter will be dedicated to making a permanent impact on CSC Staff. Interns will work together to improve CSC based on their experience from the Fall and Spring Quarters. They will also organize, plan, and execute their own direct service experience using the network and resources of CSC
3
IMMERSION
Winter Quarter will focus on immersion, where Interns will be matched with CSC committees based on their interests and future goals. Here, they will gain valuable professional development and leadership skills, while learning more about the inner workings of the Community Service Commission.
